“Reopen 9/11″ has landed! In Malaysia!

We Malaysians (read: Malay Muslims) love conspiracy theories. Especially when the perpetrators purported in the theories were Jews. In our Friday prayer sermons, we have been blaming the Jews for "Black Metal" music all the way to Valentine's Day celebration. In short, all predicaments in the Muslim world ultimately have the Jews to blame.

The latest buzz heard on, none other than, TV3 prime time news was there were these bunch of people on some sort of world tour finally arrived here in Malaysia to sell their plea to reopen the 9/11 investigation. They claimed, among others, the World Trade Center towers could not have collapsed the way they did unless they had been planted with explosives typically done in controlled demolition. And TV3 news coverage would not be complete unless we have one Hispanic guy among this group insinuating Jews were to blame for 9/11. He talked about some Jews impersonating Arabs seen taking pictures outside of the WTC moments before the unthinkable happened (or something to that effect).

Amazingly, these people has come up with a film to question the official version of what really happened on that fateful day. More amazingly, TV3 prime time news will show excerpts from this film for a few days from today. Of course, TV3 will not tell us how the claims brought up by these conspiracy theorists have been debunked many times. But the most amazing of all, they wanted Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to support their cause! Notwithstanding how ridiculous this would look, how could he resist? Why don't they also garner the support from our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Badawi, while they are at it?

To have a balance view on this interesting development, please read Popular Mechanics, "Debunking the Myths" (thanks to Setting the World to Rights for pointing to this article) and, by all mean, see TV3 coverage in the days to come. Then make up your mind. Unless, of course, you have got your mind made up already.

Don’t be too quick to conclude just on the basis that it’s published by an established megazine. I think you are the one who has made the coonclusions already. Both sources are quite scientific I would say. Nevertheless, you just have stated your side.

Dear Your Good American Product,

I have come to my own conclusion quickly, haven’t I? In my mind, 9/11 seems to be too elaborate an event for a country to orchestrate. By I’m not saying it is impossible. I guess I need to buy the 3-hour long CD? (I think it should be readily available with the level of piracy here.)

What I am trying to get at is TV3 tendency to feed the general public with one sided coverage of the international news. Nobody in Malaysia (the audience of TV3 prime time news) have really heard about the result of the “official” 9/11 investigation. And I don’t think they really care for it. So why suddenly the lop-sided coverage on what really happened on 9/11? I think the news station is trying to play with the prevailing Malaysian sentiment. But then where can we get balance news these days?

It’s interesting to hear your response in Malaysia. I think that there are two sides to this story, but unfortunately, in the USA here, we only get the *other* side–the “official” story–drilled in to us.

If other countries start to pressure the US to take a deep introspective look at what happened that day in September 2001, I think only good can come of it. There will be a lot of pain involved, but it must be faced if we are to truly heal one day.

My own opinion is that there was a massive cover-up operation in place after the perpetration. The biggest tip-off for me was the removal and subsequent melting down of the metal supportive beams in the World Trade Center towers. It’s normally a federal offense to remove evidence from the scene of a crime, but for some reason, the metal was removed within 2 or 3 weeks. Dr. Steven E. Jones (a physics professor at BYU) has since been able to get samples from the metal beams (some of the metal, evidently, was not collected by the clean-up crew), which tested positive for thermate (an explosive used in controlled demolition). Definitely sounds like something is going on that we (in the US) aren’t hearing about.

Thanks for leaving a comment. I like you blogsite. But that “Here, I draw my line…” entry is rather disorienting because it is hard for us programmers to switch from being techies to political savvies

Malaysia is too far around the world. What you need to convince most is your countrymen. Pressure from Malaysia will not have an effect. We are simply not relevant to the whole thing. Mr Bush would brush it off like flies on his back.

Sure, some of us were very sad to see the towers fell and killed some innocent people. But there were some who cheered because they think US had got what it deserved. And now some want to cheer still (not necessarily the same people) because a massive conspiracy has been uncovered. What ever happened to the celebrated “mujahidins”?

Haha… These idiot raise conspiracy theories to an artform. Seriously it takes a real idiot to actually believe shit like that. The main fact of the conspiracy theory that the tower we’re imploded by bomb planted by US herself is ludicrous. Firstly, let say the US is heartless enought to orchestrate the kill of 3000 of its own people, wouldn’t the logical question here would be “Why wouldn’t the US kill the survivors of 9/11 and these conspiracy nuts silently so as to protects the secret from ever getting out in the first place?” I mean whats a few lives when 3000 have perished. Further idiocy in the conspiracy theory is the blatant fact tht none of them probably ever passed high school chemistry. They say that the rocket fuel doesn’t burns hot enough to cause the main beams of the towers to melt and collapse. True steel melts at 1538 degrees celcius and rocket fuel burns at 838 degrees celcius, but the beams don’t really have to melt to cause the collapese now do they, steel loses more then 55% of its strength at 683 degrees celcius, with the strength gone and thousands of tones of metal and concrete bearing down on the beams, it obviously would break.
